Taking Heart Care Closer to the Children Who Need It

Free paediatric cardiac camps across urban and rural Maharashtra. A camp is not just a screening — it is the start of a path we follow through to the end.

Why We Run Camps

Most Children Are Not Diagnosed Because Nobody Has Looked

In rural Maharashtra there is often no paediatric cardiologist for a hundred kilometres, no echocardiography machine, and no reason for a family to suspect anything until a child is seriously unwell.

A camp puts a paediatric cardiologist and an echo machine in a village school or a district hospital for a day. Children who would never otherwise be examined get properly screened, and the ones with something wrong get found — often years before they would have been.

Urban camps often work through schools and community organisations. Rural camps run with district hospitals, local doctors, ASHA and anganwadi workers, and community groups who know which children to bring.

What Happens at a Camp

A Day, Start to Finish

1

Registration and history

Parents describe any concerns and the child's growth and feeding.

2

Clinical examination

Including careful listening for murmurs — the sign most often missed.

3

Echocardiography on site

Performed and interpreted by the specialist team, free of charge.

4

Immediate explanation

Parents are told the findings that day, in Marathi, with time to ask questions.

5

Referral and planning

Children needing further care get a clear plan and a route to specialist evaluation.

6

Treatment support

For families unable to afford treatment, we work with our funding partners.

7

Follow-up

Children who need monitoring stay on our list, however far away they live.

Bring a Camp to Your Area

If You Can Gather the Children, We Can Bring the Cardiologist

If you are a school, a hospital, a local authority, an NGO or a community organisation and you want a paediatric cardiac screening camp in your area, get in touch.

We will discuss what is needed — space, power, a room that can be darkened for scanning, and people who know which children to bring — and how to organise it.
